Flax Day at the Wentworth House: A Rain or Shine Event
Come have fun processing locally grown flax using heritage tools!
Small amounts of free flax will be available to process on a first come first serve basis or bring your own home grown flax! Learn to use a scutching board, a brake, a ripple, and graduated sets of hackles, and then spin the flax you just processed yourself.
Bring your wheels, drop spindles, lunch, and other fibers to spin for the day. At 1 pm, historian Judy Cataldo will present a history of flax in New England and its importance in the colonial economy. Free admission!
